Joining the Academy of Dance Arts Competition Team is a very rewarding and exciting decision! We compete regionally three to five times in the Spring and participate in one National event every summer!
This team is for hard working dancers who want to share their passion with others. We strive for all of ouor dancers to reach their highest potential, through hard work and dedication.
Students from Academy of Dance Arts Competition Team have been accepted to the following prestigious programs:
- Boston Ballet
- Parsons Dance Company
- Joffrey Ballet Summer Intensive
- Broadway Dance Center Summer Intensive
- University of Hartford - Harrt School
- University of Jacksonville Damce Program
- UMass Amherst Dance Program
Competition Team is divided into categories based on the student's age; Mini Team, Junior Team, Teen Team, & Senior Team.
Dances from each category have received numerous Special Awards, and placed with top scores in their categories, and been offered Scholarships for conventions and National Competitions!
In 2007, the Senior Team acheived excellent scores and had all of their group routines come in Top Five Highest Scores of the day! They won Overall Top Senior Group with their modern routine "Hide & Seek".
This same season they had six members of the senior team place in Top Ten Senior Solos, three of the six were in Top Three, and placed First Runner Up Top Overall Senior Group at Step Up 2 Dance Nationals.
In 2008, the Senior Team won Overall Top Senior Group with their routine "Little Bird" at Dancer's Inc. Nationals. Also, they scored Top Senior Duo/Trio with their routine "Just For Now".
In 2009, two members from the Senior Team were awarded Top Senior Duo/Trio with their routine "The Scientist".
At this same event Heather Mahan was inducted into the Dancer's Inc. Hall of Fame for being the first studio owner to have had her teams win consecutive National Titles. She is also the only choreographer to have been honored in the Dancer's Inc. Choreography Challenge three years in a row!
The 2011 Regional Season went out with a bang! The members of the 2011 Senior Team won their first Overall Top Senior Group Award with their modern routine "Mannequin Dolls"! The Junior Team placed Second Runner Up for Top Junior Group with their lyric routine "Lullaby"!
Soloists from both the Junior and Senior Team placed in Top Ten at Dancer's Inc. Regionals as well as Step Up 2 Dance Regionals!
